VAC offers a variety of short-term and long-term employment programs. These include:

Evaluations & Training
Our individualized, comprehensive evaluations can range from 2 to 8 weeks in a structured, supportive setting. This comprehensive program provides an opportunity to gain vocational experience while assessing interests, strengths, work habits, and training needs. Evaluations can be done on a full- or part-time basis.
Results of the evaluation are reviewed with the participant, significant others, and sponsoring agency during a scheduled conference. A written report with recommendations and job suggestions is provided at completion.
Evaluations are provided in the following areas:
  • Computer Training
  • Packaging/Assembly
  • Food Services
  • Building Services
  • Clerical Training
  • General Work Behaviors/Skills
  • Extended Training is provided as indicated in the evaluation report.

Job Development
For individuals who are ready for employment, VAC provides an assortment of services. These include:
  • Vocational Counseling
  • Job Skills Training
  • Job Readiness Group
  • Job Search Training & Assistance
  • Job Placement Services
Through these services, VAC prepares individuals for the rigorous process of finding and maintaining meaningful employment. VAC's primary goal is to acquire permanent employment after a time-limited period of support and training.

Community Based Employment Supports
For individuals who benefit from on-going support services to perform work, VAC has contracts with several companies to employ individuals and provide regular supports. Participants are employed at:

  • Verizon
  • Allston/Brighton YMCA

Extended Employment
VAC provides case management and employment services to individuals who benefit from long-term assistance through our Extended Employment Programs with MRC and DMR. These individuals can choose to participate in one of the following programs:
